What is yoga all about?

The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yoke’ which means, ‘to bind’ to or ‘bring together’.

Yoga is an ancient practice essentially designed to harmonize mind, body, and breath and to bring the practitioner to a state of oneness or ‘Samadhi’.

From calming and gentle restorative yoga practices, to a powerful, meditative vinyasa flow practices, yoga can help us to balance our bodies, unwind tension, create more space and release, and ultimately foster a deeper connection with ourselves and the greater world around us. 

The main components of a yoga practice are asanas or postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and the practice of breathing and meditation.
